F1 World Championship, Norris plans the comeback

“I think one race at a time“, he brushed off right after the checkered flag, when asked about hopes of confirming the world title. Norris, however, is definitely thinking about it. Helping him is precisely the 2025 World Championship, both for the awareness it gave him in terms of driving and for the example of Max Verstappen, who made a sensational comeback after recovering 104 points in nine weekends.

“At the moment I don’t have the car I need to fight for the championship. I know it’s an important statement, but after last year I know the level at which I can drive and I know what I need from the car“, these are the words of the world champion.

“If we manage to improve in slow corners, I am confident I can win every race this season. Otherwise, it becomes much harder to believe in it“, he added.
With the package introduced in Hungary, and which will debut in its entirety in Baku, McLaren has become competitive again showing a particularly strong pace especially in high-speed corners. The team principal Andrea Stella himself admitted that the updates were designed to compensate for this specific weakness. The good news, for the reigning champions, is that Mercedes will update the car only in Sepang and, according to Toto Wolff, cannot afford the same development pace as McLaren and Ferrari.
