The indecision of the Ferrari pit wall in immediately giving way to Lewis Hamilton probably cost the seven-time world champion the podium and also the sole second position in the Drivers’ standings since now George Russell has caught up with him at -59 from Andrea Kimi Antonelli.

In an interview with Sky Lewis Hamilton did not hide his disappointment: “In this sport it is impossible to be perfect. Everyone at the factory is doing a really exceptional job. They keep pushing, trying to get the most out, squeezing the maximum from this car, bringing all possible updates with great work at the factory. Today I think the guys did a great job with strategy, the mechanics at the pit stops were fantastic, but I think in the race I had a different strategy compared to Charles, I had much more power and speed than him. I lost several seconds behind him because the team did not execute what it had to do or did not make the decision it had to. I believe that in the end the podium was lost there.”
