The Dutch Grand Prix returned to the Formula 1 world championship calendar in the 2021 season, after 36 years of absence. The last time it was held was in 1985. The venue of the GP, throughout history, has always been the Zandvoort circuit, which however has undergone numerous modifications over the years. The first edition of the race was held in 1950, but at the time it was not valid for the F1 championship. The first race that awarded points for the World Championship took place in 1952 and was won by the Italian Alberto Ascari in a Ferrari.
