Raul Fernandez, how life changes in a month
It seems strange to think about it, but Raul Fernandez until a few weeks ago did not have a bike for 2027. And he didn’t even have much hope of confirmation in MotoGP, considering that the first renewal proposal from Trackhouse arrived only on June 26, just before the Assen victory.

The summer break brought order to a team disrupted by the departures of Ai Ogura to Yamaha and Davide Brivio to Honda. Owner Justin Marks took control of the situation, choosing Francesco Guidotti as Brivio’s replacement. It was the Tuscan who pushed for Fernandez’s renewal, as highlighted by the rider’s manager Paco Sanchez.

“At the start of the season he was convinced he would earn a renewal or even a call from some Factory team,” said the manager to AS. “Then we faced a reality that was new to me, I had never experienced such a situation with a rider of this level who was achieving the results Raul was getting. Everywhere we were denied a contract and the situation worsened as the races went by. Then he had some bad luck in other races and began to doubt himself. At that point he started to worry and there was a moment when he really thought he already had one foot out of MotoGP.”

“Two races ago the situation took a turn. Trackhouse wanted to renew his contract and Tech3 made us an offer. He chose to continue here,” he added. “From the first moment I met Guidotti, he told me he didn’t understand how Raul wasn’t already under contract. He never doubted Raul and was as surprised as I was. He spoke with Justin and told him there was no better option than Raul and that his contract had to be renewed at all costs. So it was Guidotti who triggered Raul’s renewal.”
With the Silverstone GP, Fernandez achieved his first win of the season, the second in his career after the 2025 Phillip Island victory. In the riders’ standings, the Spaniard is sixth, 56 points behind Jorge Martin.
