MotoGP Silverstone, the GP report
Among the most inexplicable mysteries of this MotoGP is the delay with which Raul Fernandez was certain he was still a MotoGP rider. The Spaniard celebrates the contract renewal officially announced on Wednesday with a masterpiece race at Silverstone: impressive pace set from turn 1 after a perfect start (unlike the Sprint) and his second MotoGP win after last year’s Phillip Island.

Number 25 made the decisive gap in the first half of the race, taking advantage of Jorge Martin‘s difficult start due to a problem with the rear lowering device, which remained activated in the first two fast corners. The World Championship leader tries to rebuild his race, but Fernandez had already left the pack behind long ago. No big deal for Martinator, who gains points on all his closest rivals in the standings: now the Spaniard leads by 31 points over Marco Bezzecchi, 37 over Ai Ogura, and 40 over Marc Marquez.
After the triumphant Sprint, Aprilia also shows clear superiority over Ducati in the GP. Another all-made in Noale podium arrives, thanks also to a monumental Bezzecchi, able to ride despite the pain from a clavicle fracture a month ago and numbness in his left arm. The Romagna rider resists the pressure from Alex Marquez and earns 16 very important points for the World Championship.
Too bad for the Spaniard, who threw away the podium with a mistake in turn 1 halfway through the GP: even in the race his pace was clearly the best among the Ducati riders. Otherwise, a race to forget for the GP26 riders: Fabio Di Giannantonio sixth behind Pedro Acosta, while Marquez lives another ordeal on a bike without pace, which collapses after one-third of the race. A very dark Sunday also for Francesco Bagnaia, who crashed after eight laps at Luffield due to a sudden front loss: the only good news for “Pecco” is that the weekend is over. Ogura also crashed at the end of Vale: a below-standard race for the Japanese rider, who was already struggling in seventh place before the fall.

The next appointment
MotoGP returns to the track on Friday, August 28 at Aragón: FP1 at 10:45 and Practice at 15:00. On Saturday FP2 at 10:10, followed by Qualifying (Q1 at 10:50, Q2 at 11:15) and the Sprint at 15:00. Sunday the 12th GP of the year will start at 14:00.
