MotoGP Silverstone, the Sprint report
Marc Marquez did not hide when he predicted an Aprilia clean sweep at Silverstone. In England, the fourfold does not happen for the Noale factory, but only because of Raul Fernandez’s bad race: otherwise, a clear superiority, with Jorge Martin triumphing ahead of Ai Ogura and Marco Bezzecchi. A perfect race for the 2024 world champion, who starts off fast, creates a 1-2 second cushion over Ogura and does not get caught. His pace was excellent and consistent, which only partially emerged yesterday.

In a Silverstone that puts the rear tire to the test, Aprilia manages the drop better than anyone else. And so even a heroic Bezzecchi finds the strength to finish in the top-3, perfectly limiting the damage at least for today. The Romagna rider endures a Sprint of total physical suffering, as evidenced by his liberating cry and a beautiful hug from his mother Daniela after the checkered flag.

Too bad for Fernandez, who crashes at the Loop trying to recover from a terrible start. In a normal race, it would have been an Aprilia fourfold ahead of the Ducatis. The best among the GP26 is Alex Marquez, who unsurprisingly had the best pace among the Borgo Panigale riders: the vice world champion is fourth ahead of Fabio Di Giannantonio and Pedro Acosta. The Factory Ducati riders collapse, with Marc Marquez in deep crisis with the rear tire (already finished halfway through the race). By just 27 thousandths, the Spanish star snatches a point with ninth place, but a step up is needed for tomorrow. Even worse is Francesco Bagnaia, 17th with a gap of six tenths to reserve Pol Espargaró.
