Since he left Red Bull at the end of last season – after over 20 years –, Marko has always remained rather tight-lipped in his interventions with the press.
In particular towards his former team he has often been poor in comments and observations, giving the impression of wanting to stay away from any controversy.
There is a confidentiality clause
The reason why Helmut Marko tries to avoid comments on Red Bull was revealed by the Germans of F1 Insider, who pointed out how the Austrian “made his exit very costly.”
The right sum to make him give up the role was in fact 8 million euros.

And precisely this transaction to close the relationship contained a confidentiality clause. As journalist Ralf Bach explains: “Translation: gag for Marko. Until the end of 2026 he will not be able to give interviews” about his former team.
An example was the recent hiring by Red Bull of Gwen Lagrue from Mercedes, who will take on the role previously held by the Austrian on young drivers: the former Graz consultant did not want and could not comment on it.
