MotoGP, Martin at Silverstone as leader
For Jorge Martin, Silverstone represents a fundamental step of the season. The MotoGP World Championship leader faces the British weekend with the goal of regaining rhythm and consistency after the fifth place at Sachsenring, a result that limited the damage in the standings but marked Marc Marquez’s comeback in the World Championship.
The 2024 world champion now has a 14-point lead over Ai Ogura and “only” 18 points over Marquez. At Silverstone, a blow is needed to push back the threat of Ducati’s Cabroncito, especially since Aragón arrives at the end of August, where Marquez always starts as the big favorite.
Martin’s words
“It has been two or three good weeks, we had some time to regain energy,” this is Martin’s comment to Sky Sport MotoGP. “I think there are good premises for the second part of the season. There have been some beautiful races, some a bit more difficult. For me, it is important to understand what went well, go in that direction and continue to have the mentality from the start of the year, which definitely helped me to go better.”

From a championship perspective, Martinator believes the fight is much broader, and that the rivals are not only Marco Bezzecchi and Marc Marquez: “There are many strong riders, and that’s good. I think we have a great opportunity to fight until the end this year, we have to make the most of it. But all the riders are strong, it’s not just a matter between me, Bezzecchi, and Marquez. Everyone has the opportunity to win. It’s all open, in terms of points they can make it. Let’s wait for a few races and then see the situation.”
The statements made on the eve by Martin allow a better understanding of the Spaniard’s expectations, who counts on the feeling between the RS-GP and Silverstone (from the 2025 victory with Marco Bezzecchi began the climb to the top by the Noale factory). The most important answers will come during the weekend, when the stopwatch will define the real values on the field.
