The Colombian will challenge mentor Marc Marquez
The MotoGP rider market is ‘firing’ its last shots and the 2027 starting grid is now practically complete. Among the rookies to watch closely in 2027 is definitely David Alonso, a Colombian rider closely followed by Marc Marquez who will race with Honda.

It has not yet been decided whether Alonso will join Fabio Quartararo in the HRC team or if Diogo Moreira will be preferred, but judging by David Alonso’s words, it seems that the Brazilian will have to settle for Lucio Cecchinello’s team.
“Racing with Honda in MotoGP is a dream and something that only 2 riders do worldwide – said David Alonso to Sky – obviously I am very happy and so is my family who have made great sacrifices since I was five years old, they have covered kilometers upon kilometers in Spain to let me race.”
