F1, a 2026 marked by the tricolor
As fans of Formula 1, we are getting used to hearing the Mameli Anthem at the end of almost every GP. Something unthinkable until a few weeks ago, since historically the notes of the Canto degli Italiani have almost always been played only for Ferrari, which in the last two decades or so has limited its appearances on the top step of the podium compared to the immediately preceding period (the one of consecutive triumphs with Michael Schumacher). Now it is rather Andrea Kimi Antonelli who is celebrating, an Italian driver who has brought the tricolor to the top of the world in more than half of the GPs held so far (6 out of 11). A pride also for Stefano Domenicali, the Italian at the other top – the commercial one – of this F1.

Stefano Domenicali praises Kimi Antonelli
“I think having someone like Andrea Kimi Antonelli – explains the president and CEO of Formula One Group in a press conference in which FormulaPassion.it also took part – is really fantastic for our sport. He is a breath of fresh air, he is still at the beginning and is very open to anything that comes his way. He has attracted many new fans thanks to his way of interacting, which is very positive. From a sporting point of view, I must admit he has shown to be very strong. Let’s not forget that without the two retirements due to technical problems with his car, the championship lead would have been even wider. He is therefore proving to be very solid and one of the most interesting talents that F1 has welcomed”.

And then, while waiting to see how Antonelli, as championship leader, will be received at the home challenge in the Monza GP, as an Italian who is however at the wheel of the rival car to Ferrari par excellence, there is also the component of geographical closeness to make the Imola-born Domenicali proud: “For Italian fans it is even more important because you know better than me that the last Italian driver who achieved something important dates back many, many, many years ago. So a completely new dimension is added. The relationship he has today with the other drivers is fantastic, although it could obviously change if he won the World Championship. But that is the nature of this sport. In any case, I can only be very happy with the way he is committing himself. I have known Kimi Antonelli for many, many years. And he is an incredible asset for the future of what we are doing together”.
