Iker Lecuona renews contract with Aruba.it – Ducati until 2028

Together again

The only rider to have beaten Nicolò Bulega in this championship in the last round at Donington, Iker Lecuona has received another award, this time off the track: the Spaniard has in fact signed a contract renewal with his team Aruba.it – Ducati, with the 26-year-old continuing with the newly crowned world champion team until 2028. Hired by the Borgo Panigale factory precisely for this season to replace his compatriot Alvaro Bautista, Lecuona convinced the team leaders not only after his first win in England (also his first in Superbike), but also for the 20 podiums collected so far: “It’s an extraordinary moment – he declared – I have already emphasized several times how my life has completely changed since I joined this great family. For this reason, the contract renewal with Aruba.it Racing – Ducati is a source of deep satisfaction for me. I want to thank Aruba and Ducati for giving me this new opportunity. It’s nice to think about a future together but the important thing now is to finish this season in the best possible way, trying to have fun, to grow further in terms of performance and above all to achieve increasingly important results.”

The words of Cecconi and Dall’Igna

Currently 2nd in the Riders’ standings, his performances have been repeatedly praised by Team Principal Stefano Cecconi, who expressed his satisfaction with the renewal: “We are really happy to continue this journey with Iker. From the beginning, we believed in his talent, but what won us over was the way he became part of the group: he adapted to the bike and the team with surprising naturalness, always putting in the same passion, the same dedication and that team spirit that characterizes our garage. Having two more seasons ahead together is a wonderful prospect: we still have a long way to go, and all the desire to go all the way to aim for the most important result.”

Happiness, of course, also for Luigi Dall’Igna, General Manager of Ducati Corse: “Confirming Iker for the next two seasons is an important signal for the entire Ducati project in WorldSBK. In a few months he has shown he can interpret the Panigale V4R at his best, quickly turning his potential into concrete results and showing steady growth from a technical and competitive point of view. The current foundations are very solid and the development margins interesting. Iker has brought speed, riding sensitivity and experience, fundamental elements in an increasingly competitive championship. Now the goal is to continue working methodically, trying to raise the level further in every area. We are convinced that, with this ambition and continuity, he can be a protagonist also in the most important challenges that await us in the near future.”
