MotoGP Austin, the Sprint report
Welcome back Martinator! Jorge Martin wins the Austin Sprint with an overtake of pure power and strength on the last lap against Francesco Bagnaia at the end of the long straight leading to turn-11. After a 2025 in which he was plagued by injuries, the Spaniard thus becomes the championship leader, taking advantage of the crash of teammate Marco Bezzecchi at the usual corner while chasing Bagnaia’s P1. And you can tell that #89 hadn’t celebrated in a long time: incredibly, he falls on the lap of honor while doing a wheelie!

Decisive for Martin was the choice of the medium rear, which allowed him to gain a 2″ gap from Bagnaia in the final laps: “Pecco” with the soft suffered from many vibrations and arrived unarmed at the decisive moment; the Ducati rider can still smile after a sensational start (from fourth to first after turn-1) and a race that sees him return to the top after a complicated start to the season. Pedro Acosta completes the top-3, but the KTM rider is under investigation for potentially irregular tire pressure. An already very intense race could therefore have an important aftermath and even favor Enea Bastianini, a sensational fourth on a circuit that has almost always exalted him. Important points also for Alex Marquez, Luca Marini, Ai Ogura, Raul Fernandez, and Johann Zarco.
