The more spaced out grid
Following the Barcelona incidents, MotoGP at Mugello had presented four proposals to teams, manufacturers, and riders, with the clear objective of further trying to improve the safety standards of the category.
One of these points explained by Carlos Ezpeleta, MotoGP sporting director, was related to the more spaced out grid. The idea is to leave more space between riders and rows, to allow for greater maneuvering space at the first corner. Unanimous consensus had been reached among the 11 teams and the idea had been presented to the riders the following day, with the aim of a rapid introduction of this change.

The MotoGP test in Balaton
Rosario Triolo of Sky Sport MotoGP revealed that today at 18:00 in Balaton, a test has been scheduled for a new starting procedure that involves 2 bikes per row, unlike the 3 that have been customary since 2004 (previously it was 4 per row).
A Formula 1-style MotoGP then: if this change were to get the final green light, it would make qualifying even more important, thus increasing competitiveness and risk.
In recent days, Pecco Bagnaia had been lukewarm about the idea: “More spacing? I don’t think that’s the reason for the problems in the end.”
