One record after another
It is a literally record-breaking Marco Bezzecchi that we saw on track between the end of 2025 and the first three races of this new 2026 season. Of course, the Aprilia rider made a few too many mistakes on Saturday and hasn’t won a Sprint race since the Phillip Island weekend last year, but on the other hand, he has become unbeatable on Sunday. Five consecutive victories – the last two races of the past championship, Portimão and Valencia, and the first three of the current year, Thailand, Brazil, and the United States – but above all five races led always from the first to the last lap.

Lorenzo’s record erased, but not only
The numbers don’t lie: in Sunday’s GPs, Bezzecchi has been ahead of everyone for 121 consecutive laps and has shattered the previous record dating back to the 2015 season. That year Jorge Lorenzo won four consecutive Grands Prix at Jerez, Le Mans, Mugello, and Barcelona, accumulating 103 consecutive laps in first position.
But the other names in this ranking are also impressive: Casey Stoner, Francesco Bagnaia and Marc Marquez. All multiple world champions in MotoGP who, in this statistic, have seen themselves clearly overtaken by Bez’s feat.

A record that seemed almost unreachable and which instead was crumbled, more than a decade later, by the Bezzecchi-Aprilia pairing. And on the horizon at the end of the month is the Jerez race: where Lorenzo’s streak of laps at the top began 11 years ago, Bezzecchi wants to extend his own, aiming for what would be the fourth success in four GPs in this magical start to 2026.
