It is time for celebrations in Finland for the success of the local idol Sami Pajari, who with his second consecutive victory (as well as the second in his WRC career) joins the many compatriot drivers present in the roll of honor of this historic rally. An important achievement not only from an emotional point of view, but also for the development of the world championship standings: with four rounds remaining in the championship (awaiting confirmation of whether the Saudi Arabia Rally will be held due to the conflict in the Middle East), Pajari is now in second place 30 points behind Elfyn Evans, who is still leading the world championship. The 24-year-old Finn took advantage of a less brilliant performance by Takamoto Katsuta, who will also have to watch out for the return of Solberg, now at -4. The same Swede, in a standings that have seen several changes, has overtaken the reigning world champion Sébastien Ogier, who was fortunately discharged from the hospital on Sunday morning along with co-driver Julien Ingrassia after a violent accident occurred in SS17 on Saturday afternoon. There are also new developments at Hyundai, with Fourmaux now 6th ahead of Neuville, but with the Korean team still lagging behind Toyota, now close to winning the world title.
