A disappointing P14 for Pecco
It was certainly not a memorable Friday for Pecco Bagnaia, who finished 14th in the Balaton practice and therefore tomorrow will have to start qualifying from Q1. And it will be a key Q1 for the weekend of the Italian Ducati champion, given that the Hungarian track is one where overtakes are anything but simple. For Bagnaia, the regret of not having made it into the top10 today due to a save at the chicane of turn 12-13 which cost him those tenths that could have placed him in the top ten.

Bagnaia’s words to Sky Italia
“We didn’t get into the top ten because in the penultimate corner when I turned in, the rear broke away. I lost four tenths which were enough to be in the top ten. But I struggle a lot with rear grip, honestly I didn’t expect this situation here. My problem this year, having little grip, has proven to be a big problem here. When I try to turn in a bit harder, it just breaks away, without throttle. And this is a huge limitation on such a narrow track. It’s not easy to understand, because even Marc – looking at his data – is in a similar situation to mine. On that lap we were practically even, until it broke away in the penultimate corner.
Diggia, on the other hand, looking at the data, you see that he manages to have a lot of grip. So it’s something we need to understand and work on. It will be crucial to get into Q2 and then have a good start. The modification made at Mugello on Sunday worked and the practice starts here were perfect.”
The Hungarian GP qualifying will start tomorrow at 10:50 AM, with live text coverage on FormulaPassion.it.
