The Ferrari 2026: promoted or postponed?
Pole position still doesn’t want to arrive, but it’s undeniable that the Ferrari seen in recent weekends is a good base for fighting at the top. The boss of the Prancing Horse pit wall was questioned by Sky about the “grade” to give to Ferrari F1 at the end of the first half of the season, which concludes this weekend in Budapest. And he responded honestly, admitting some difficulties but also praising the good reaction the Maranello team had, catching up with Mercedes after a not-so-exciting start to the season: “It’s not bad, but we could have done even better. But it’s true that, if we look at last season, we struggled until Belgium and then from Belgium onwards we scored more points than Mercedes. Looking at today’s result, we are actually a bit disappointed despite being second and third in qualifying (second and fifth after the penalty inflicted on Lewis Hamilton for impeding Oscar Piastri, ed.) which is certainly not a disastrous result”.
Obviously, the wait is now also and above all for the second half of the championship, which will start from the Netherlands from the weekend of next August 23, with the expectation of seeing an updated engine with the second ADUO token that could and should, according to Maranello engineers, close part of the performance gap from rivals: “Certainly, looking at the last races of this season, we must continue to develop and avoid mistakes, continuing to push because anything is possible. And we must continue in the same direction. We have had a good start, but it is not enough”, concluded Ferrari boss, Fred Vasseur.
