Yet another ‘suspicious’ spin
Another qualifying session ended with a spin, another ‘strange’ episode that could be linked to a car malfunction problem and – specifically – the rear wing that is now driving all Red Bull engineers crazy. The Hungarian GP qualifying was once again very disappointing for Max Verstappen, who publicly and blatantly criticized the RB22 again. The Dutchman finished Q3 in sixth place, ahead of George Russell, but his attack on the team and the car was still very harsh.

The degradation of the car
“I had an aerodynamic problem that is certainly not positive, especially in qualifying, because here you want to trust the rear, you want to have a planted rear on corner entry, while the car kept getting worse – Verstappen told Sky Sport F1 – every lap we did in qualifying was always worse, so it was really very tough. It’s difficult in these conditions to hope for anything for the race“.

With Dutch television, however, the four-time world champion further emphasized: “What happened this time? I don’t know. It seems something went wrong with the aerodynamics again: we lost downforce once more. The car is simply undriveable – Verstappen declared – just steer into a corner and the car completely snaps away. If you reduce the wing, you get understeer; if you increase it, the car snaps away. It’s simply impossible”. And then the harshest phrase of all: “We don’t have tire degradation, we have car degradation”. Not exactly the best way to continue his adventure at Red Bull.
