Verstappen, a casual P4
The Hungarian Grand Prix qualifying was disappointing for Max Verstappen, who had a complicated Saturday at the Hungaroring. The four-time world champion never managed to find the right feeling with the Red Bull and, in an attempt to improve in the last seconds of Q3, also spun, definitively compromising his chances of fighting for the top positions.

Only due to penalties for Kimi Antonelli and Lewis Hamilton, can #3 start from fourth position, but naturally, the grid advancement does not change his mood one bit. Verstappen is a raging river in post-qualifying and releases statements that take on even more importance when considering that Red Bull had drivability problems with the car precisely when it should have been convincing its champion to stay in 2027.

“The more laps I did, the harder it became to put a valid lap together. We need to solve the problem because the car as it is is undrivable,” these were Verstappen’s words after qualifying in Hungary.

“So far, the entire weekend has been complicated for us. Unfortunately, starting from FP3, we began to have problems that were beyond our control and quite unexpected. We have a lot to analyze tonight and we really need to understand what caused these issues. We experienced aerodynamic downforce losses and struggled with both tire degradation and the rear. The car oversteered a lot and got worse with every lap.”
Red Bull will be called upon to quickly find solutions to improve the car’s behavior, while Verstappen will try to exploit his race pace to salvage a weekend that currently places the RB22 as a clear fourth force.
