The Monegasque goes hunting for the title
“It would be a dream, but it’s too early to say, also because we have no idea of the potential of our opponents”. Charles Leclerc, in an interview given to Autosprint, responded this way to the classic question of whether 2026 will be the right year for a Ferrari that has been without a Drivers’ title since 2007 and a Constructors’ title since 2008.

For Leclerc, this is his eighth season as a Ferrari driver, having debuted at the wheel of the Rossa in 2019. In 8 years, Leclerc was effectively in the fight for the World title for half a season in 2022, too little for a crystal-clear talent who in 2025 had to swallow a bitter pill given that Lando Norris won the World Championship.
Ferrari was the fastest in testing with Leclerc himself, but the Monegasque currently does not believe that the SF-26 is the leading force on the track, on the contrary: “We don’t know who is really ahead at the moment – added the Ferrari driver – Mercedes, McLaren and Red Bull seem well prepared to us already, very strong. My feeling is that the four teams that have recently fought for the World Championship are quite close, but Mercedes is perhaps a bit further ahead. We are there, with Red Bull still a little bit above, I think. We are waiting for the real feedback in Australia.”
