F1 Monaco, Free Practice 3 Report

It is often said that **Free Practice 3** in **Monte Carlo** is not just a simple practice session but almost an early qualifying session where the stakes are already high: certainly not in terms of grid positions, but definitely in terms of the confidence drivers can gain, with Soft tyres and low fuel load, between the walls and manholes of the narrowest and most famous city track in the world. And so, if Friday ended with big smiles inside the **Ferrari** garage (and in the homes of the Tifosi), Saturday morning opens (surprisingly) with **Andrea Kimi Antonelli** and a **Mercedes** that seems to have found the right way in terms of setup.

The young Italian talent indeed stopped the clock at **1:12.720**, the only one so far this weekend to drop below the 1:13 barrier. Behind him are the two **Ferraris**, but with gaps that might raise some eyebrows: **Charles Leclerc** pays a gap of over 3 tenths, with **Lewis Hamilton** just 4 thousandths behind the Monegasque. **George Russell**, on the other hand, is fourth, 7 tenths behind his teammate, despite not having taken the opportunity to complete a clean lap with new Soft tyres at the end.

All the others are further behind, with **Max Verstappen** fifth, just under a second back, slightly ahead of **Oscar Piastri**, who did well to precede **Lando Norris**, who, after missing the entire FP2 session, still seemed a bit in difficulty (and finished ninth). Also in the top 10 is **Gabriel Bortoleto**, with an **Audi** that so far has always been the first of the teams chasing the top teams, ahead of **Isack Hadjar**, the aforementioned Norris, and teammate **Nico Hulkenberg**. Bad news for the **Haas** driver (and Ferrari academy driver), **Oliver Bearman**: the young Englishman lost control of the rear of his car at Massenet, hitting the barriers and damaging the rear wing, forcing Race Control to display the red flag in the final minutes.
