A bit of ‘drama’ from Max
Total and continuous pressure. Max Verstappen since the winter tests has not missed the chance to launch sensational attacks against the 2026 F1 cars. In Bahrain he defined this generation of cars as “Formula E on steroids” and after the Japanese GP he said he would seriously consider leaving the Circus because he does not find it fun to drive regardless of the result he can fight for.

In Miami Red Bull showed a decidedly different face to the point that Verstappen qualified on the front row. In the race the Dutchman made everything difficult with a spin at the start, but in the end he finished a good fifth place which surely lifted the morale of the four-time world champion.
Former driver Johnny Herbert believes that Verstappen’s was all an act based, however, on arguments and facts that Herbert fully agrees with: “Max has exaggerated a bit – said the former driver reached by Jackpot City Casino – he will never leave F1 because they are still the best cars in the motorsport world. It is probably still the strongest emotion you can experience behind the wheel. Verstappen is acting to play a political game and I understand that perfectly. Verstappen and all the other drivers want a car that challenges them. At the moment these 2026 F1 cars do not do that and for this reason they are frustrated. Anyway, efforts are being made to improve the situation through regulation changes and this will lead everyone to have a more positive approach. It would be important that at least one top-level driver participates at the ‘table’ where decisions about the future of F1 are made because the impact of a driver’s participation could only have positive consequences.”
