Ducati misses the debut
Ducati arrived in Thailand confident of being able to fight for the podium and victory, despite having taken into account Aprilia’s progress. But Sunday’s race was a nightmare for Borgo Panigale, as both the streak of podiums and top-five finishes were interrupted after five and four years respectively.
The best-placed was Fabio Di Giannantonio, sixth more than sixteen seconds behind the winner Marco Bezzecchi, an undoubtedly disappointing result for Ducati management and fans.

Tardozzi’s explanations to TNT Sport
“It was a very difficult weekend because it seems that Aprilia has grown a lot and their four riders were incredibly fast this weekend. Hats off because they had a fantastic weekend. In the end there is something strange in the fact that this weekend we found the bike completely different from the previous one, when we were here for the tests. And this is something we still haven’t understood. It’s really strange.
Marc Marquez unfortunately went on the kerb at turn four and broke the rim, that’s why the tire lost air and he was forced to stop. He hit the edge of the kerb and broke the rim. I don’t remember anything like it. We can say it was a mistake, but it was really unlucky because many riders went out at turn four and no one had this problem.

He certainly understood that this year it will be more difficult to win the championship, but he has a lot of confidence especially in Gigi and then in his engineers, so he is obviously angry about what happened because he lost the podium since he was catching up a lot on Fernandez. But in the end he trusts us, he trusts the bike and I think in a few weeks he will be even better with his right shoulder.”
