Denmark arrives
This season will see the first Grand Prix in history on the Madrid street circuit, but there have been other novelties in Formula 1: in 2027, for example, the Turkish Grand Prix will return to the calendar, not to mention all the other ongoing projects for further returns of the Circus in countries such as Argentina, India, South Korea, or South Africa, the latter coinciding with the end of an absence of F1 from the African continent that has lasted since 1994. To all these countries, which already have a track, the plan for Denmark has recently been added.

The project
Investors Henrik Lyngbye Pedersen and his son Mathias Lyngbye Villadsen have unveiled a project worth 510 million euros aimed at modifying and expanding the current Padborg track, which with a length of 6 km and a capacity of 100,000 would become not only the largest circuit in Denmark but also in Northern Europe.

Designed by the Wurz Design studio (owned by former Austrian driver Alexander Wurz) and renamed ‘Circuit of Denmark’, this will also include facilities for motocross, karting, hotels, and conference spaces, with the Danish investors currently seeking further international investors. Located in the southernmost part of the country, according to Jens Hansen, F1 commentator for Viaplay and TV3 Sport, it can be a “smart choice” also due to its proximity to two other countries such as Germany and the Netherlands. Although there has been no official confirmation from Formula 1 regarding the organization of a GP, the project director, Rebecca Palmberg Steele, has confirmed that the facility has been designed to meet the strict Grade 1 standards.
