Marc Marquez Absent in Barcelona
The MotoGP World Championship returns immediately to the track this weekend with the Catalan GP in Barcelona at the Montmelò circuit. The home crowd will not be able to cheer for Marc Marquez, who will be absent due to the foot injury he suffered last Saturday in France during the Sprint, a knockout that allowed the nine-time world champion to bring forward the shoulder surgery that was already planned right after the Barcelona weekend.
Alex Marquez was unstoppable on his home track a year ago; we will see if the Gresini rider can once again challenge the Aprilia dominance as he already did in Jerez. Marco Bezzecchi has only a one-point lead over Jorge Martin, and the Aprilia Trackhouse teams of Raul Fernandez and Ai Ogura will surely be fast at Montmelò as well.
The event will be broadcast live in full on Sky Sport MotoGP, while on TV8 the Sunday races will be delayed with the MotoGP starting at 8:30 PM prime time, whereas all Saturday sessions from the MotoGP Qualifying onwards up to the premier class Sprint will also be broadcast live on free-to-air TV.
