GP Le Mans, Alex Marquez down
After the triumph in Jerez, all eyes in the paddock were on Alex Marquez. The vice world champion, however, failed to meet expectations. The crash in Q2 made the entire Le Mans weekend difficult for him, and while in the Sprint he managed to salvage at least an eighth place, his GP ended after just one lap due to a mistake in turn 4 that he himself calls “stupid”.
Words from Alex Marquez
“Probably I took turn 3 a bit slower, afraid that the front tire was still a bit cold. Then I gave a bit more throttle in turn 4, so I lost the front“, this is Marquez’s comment.
“A stupid mistake on my part. Fortunately, apart from a hit to the head, I’m fine. Great to have Barcelona coming up very soon to make up for this race“.
Words from Aldeguer
Fermin Aldeguer came back from 19th position by betting on the soft tire also at the front, finishing in ninth place: “Considering how we started the weekend, finishing with this result is definitely very positive. In the race maybe I could have done a bit more, but starting so far back the tire choice forced us into a different strategy. The soft tire allowed us a good comeback, but in the last third of the race we didn’t have enough to try to attack Raul Fernandez“.
