First ‘home’ race for Ford
The first of the three events in the United States represents a new home race for Red Bull since the Milton Keynes team has formed a partnership with Ford for the production of the power unit.

So far the ‘newborn’ engine on the Red Bull-Ford axis has given excellent feedback, unfortunately the same cannot be said for the RB22 which proved overweight and lacking in performance especially in corners.

The break served everyone to work on the cars and Red Bull arrives in Miami with an updated and lightened RB22 (according to estimates reported by the newspaper De Telegraaf the extra weight was halved from 12 to 6-7 kilos): “Everyone worked at full speed in Milton Keynes on the chassis and the power unit, with the involvement of Max and Isack as well – said team principal Laurent Mekies – we do not expect to have solved all the problems at once, but we definitely aim to provide Max and Isack with a car they feel more comfortable with and can push to the maximum. Ultimately, only the Miami circuit will tell us how well we have done and how much more we need to improve. The Miami GP is also the first of the three races to be held in the United States this season and is therefore a significant moment for us, as it marks the North American debut of the Red Bull Ford power units.”
