An ingenious wing against the Mercedes power unit
The Ferrari yesterday held the first of two filming days allowed by the regulations. Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton each completed 100km with the Ferrari SF26, which maintained a constant configuration as required by the regulations on these occasions.
The Maranello Scuderia tested several new features – a new floor and new aerodynamic parts – and the focus was certainly on the ‘Macarena‘ rear wing, which has not yet debuted in Qualifying or Race due to problems currently related to reliability (in particular, an imperfect synchronization during closing with the front wing that caused aerodynamic imbalances during braking, a phenomenon that caused Lewis Hamilton’s spin in China in the only free practice session held in Shanghai).
According to estimates, this ingenious wing should guarantee a gain of 8-10 km/h when the wings open, a significant advantage that could help Ferrari counter the supremacy of the Mercedes power unit.

Today’s edition of Il Corriere della Sera reports that yesterday’s day had comforting results to the point of reaching approval earlier than its planned debut in Canada. The Macarena wing will debut in Miami.
