Max Verstappen protagonist again
Max Verstappen returns to the wheel of his Mercedes-AMG GT3 number 3 with his team’s colors for the second of the two races of the weekend at the Nurburgring Nordschleife after yesterday’s tragedy that cost the life of 66-year-old Juha Miettinen. The Dutch driver still shares the cockpit with teammate Lucas Auer in preparation for one of the most important and anticipated events of the GT season, the 24 Hours which traditionally takes place at the Green Hell in May (this year on the weekend of May 16 and 17, to be precise).

For the Dutchman, this is therefore the fifth real race – after the numerous ones done on the iRacing simulator, even during Formula 1 weekends – at the Nurburgring Nordschleife, the historic “north loop” of the German track, one of the most difficult, technical and dangerous in the world, as well as the scene of the fire that saw Niki Lauda as protagonist in 1976 (that was effectively the last appearance of the traditional circuit in the F1 calendar, at that point considered anachronistic and dangerous). The car, which Max Verstappen shares with teammate Lucas Auer, is fielded by the Verstappen.com Racing team and races with the classic Red Bull colors, sporting a bright blue livery that recalls the Milton Keynes single-seaters competing in Formula 1.
