All about Marquez
The main protagonist of the first press conference of the new season could only be Marc Marquez. The reigning world champion – who has not competed in a full race weekend since early October, due to the injury suffered last year in Indonesia – has all eyes on him. Many topics were touched upon by #93 in the meeting with journalists in Buriram. From his recovery path to his main rivals on the track, also passing through the choice to take a step back in terms of aerodynamics on his Desmosedici and for his decisions on the new contract.

Physical condition and title defense
“We improved on the last day of testing. I feel better. My recovery path made the pre-season more difficult, but tests are always more complicated for physical conditions compared to a race weekend. My brother Alex and Marco Bezzecchi were the fastest in the tests. We will try to fight against them to be strong from the start. The title defense? Every year is always difficult. Thinking you’ll always be the fastest is impossible. My goal is to find good consistency in performance and results on all tracks. I expect to improve progressively during the weekend in these first races“.
“The 2024 and 2025 seasons served me to prove I am fast. I wanted to return to being competitive in the championship and I succeeded, winning the World Championship last year. The injury in Indonesia seemed simpler at first, but then it didn’t turn out that way and required time. I hope to have room for improvement but at this moment regarding my right arm I don’t know what my 100% will be. However, in tests you have to stay connected and focused for six consecutive hours, in race weekends the situation is simpler. Anyway, when you ride a Ducati in the factory team, you always aim for the title“.
The choice of aerodynamics
“I chose to use the 2024 aerodynamics. Why? You always have to find the best for your riding style. I chose to take a step back because I can’t ride the bike the same way as last year. The 2025 aerodynamics are too demanding for my current physical condition. I am trying to adapt my riding style to my current conditions. Both aerodynamic packages work well, but one of my best qualities is knowing how to adapt to the situation”.

The future
“Being a MotoGP rider means putting 100% of your attention into what you do. In the past I learned that I cannot make a decision about my future when I am injured: now with Ducati we are on the right track, but I first had to perfectly understand my situation. Now I feel better and I feel good at Ducati. I hope it’s the same for them towards me. Now I don’t feel injured and I can make a decision. Me as a team owner in the future? At the moment I’m not thinking about it. For the future, you never know. When I end my racing career I will decide what to do. In any case, bikes will be part of my life forever.
“The difficult situation of Quartararo and Toprak? In this sport, the result doesn’t only depend on the riders, but also on the machine. There is a combination and you have to find the right project. Both must decide their priority. Fabio must decide soon, but maybe he has already decided. Where will he go? I don’t know. I don’t believe in rumors”.
