A Sunday without F1
Today Formula 1 was supposed to restart in Bahrain, originally the fourth round of the 2026 World Championship. The attack on Iran by Israel and the United States and the response of the Islamic Republic against other Middle Eastern states have, however, made it impossible to organize the Sakhir (April 10-12) and Jeddah (April 17-19) GPs in April. To fill the void, F1 has scheduled the replay of the 2021 edition on its channel.

This is the link to watch the race from five years ago: the replay will start at 17, the same time the actual GP was supposed to take place.
The 2021 race was important because it was the first event of a memorable season, which ended amidst the countless controversies of Abu Dhabi. The GP, won by Lewis Hamilton ahead of Max Verstappen, confirmed the impressions from testing: Red Bull closed the gap with Mercedes and the Dutchman finally established himself as a title contender.

It remains to be seen whether Formula 1 will adopt the same solution in seven days, another weekend that the war in Iran has “freed up”. Officially, these two races have been postponed, but not permanently canceled from the calendar. F1’s plan is to wait for geopolitical developments in the Middle East in the hope of recovering the races in a few months, although for the moment there is no sign indicating a rapid end to the conflict.
