Leclerc’s assessment
Charles Leclerc yesterday in the Japanese GP with noteworthy feats managed to secure his second podium of the season, which allows him to maintain third position in the Drivers’ Championship, 23 points behind leader Andrea Kimi Antonelli.

In Suzuka, the third Mercedes one-two in as many races was recorded, although in this case the one-two is such considering the power units because behind the winner Andrea Kimi Antonelli was McLaren driver Oscar Piastri.

In the press conference, Charles Leclerc drew an initial assessment of this start to the season and it is clear that the aspect where Ferrari is most lacking compared to the competition is the power unit, but until the ADUO intervenes, there will be no reshuffling in terms of performance from that point of view. “There is one clear aspect we need to improve on, and that is definitely the power unit – Leclerc said – obviously we cannot bring anything to Miami in terms of the engine, we will focus on the rest, namely the tire operating window, aerodynamics, the chassis. We will work at full speed to try to reduce the gap to Mercedes as much as possible while hoping to keep McLaren behind us. At the moment the power unit is our main weakness, but there are many other aspects that can certainly help us reduce the gap in the meantime.”
