Max Verstappen against 100 drivers, all starting on go-karts absolutely identical in performance and with ballast that will be ‘set’ so as not to give any advantage to the lighter participants.

Today at 18:00 on Disney+ this race will take place, which will see the four-time F1 world champion called to a comeback. The 2.5 km circuit was created between the classic go-kart track at Silverstone and an extension made using part of the Wellington straight and the Brooklands-Luffield section of the F1 circuit.

The race will last 30 laps. In the first 15, the 100 drivers will be able to use the ‘shortcut’ once to get their wheels ahead of Verstappen’s, avoiding elimination. In the last 15, it will be Verstappen who can use this stratagem.

Verstappen’s words

The Dutch driver presented this event that will see him as the protagonist in a few hours: “I drove karts from the age of four until fifteen, so this is a great opportunity to go back to basics and rediscover how I got into this sport. Once on track, I will focus on learning the layout and getting familiar with the kart’s grip.”

“I think I should get back into the rhythm quite naturally, but it’s nice to know I can count on the help of simulations based on the data we managed to get from qualifying sessions. I know some will be very fast and I think all participants will be quite competitive, so it will be quite interesting and very hectic to see the melee that will break out in front of me.”

“Trying to race against 100 people will be very difficult and will require patience to climb back up the group as quickly as possible. I’m looking forward to it and this is, of course, something only Red Bull could organize. It’s been several years since I drove a go-kart, so it will be fun to get back on track and see how I do, but there are a lot of people to overtake, so we’ll see.”
