Another disappointment for Ferrari
Ferrari dreamed of pole position when Lewis Hamilton finished the first run of Q3 ahead of Andrea Kimi Antonelli, but in the second run the seven-time world champion slipped down to fourth place.

Lando Norris, Antonelli and Max Verstappen did better than the Ferrari driver who held off teammate Charles Leclerc by just six thousandths despite the advantage of the engine equipped with ADUO-2.
Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur told Sky that Hamilton made a mistake at the first chicane in the second run and therefore had to chase throughout the lap knowing he had already lost about a tenth after a few seconds.

“Obviously when you are first after the first lap you think about pole position – explained Vasseur – but Hamilton made a mistake immediately in Turn 1 and Turn 2 and this cost him a tenth. When you start the lap with these premises it’s then difficult. Leclerc? He improved enormously, there were six cars within two tenths, he did great laps.”
