Fifth place for Leclerc
Charles Leclerc could not have been the picture of happiness at the end of a qualifying session that determined his start from the third row of the Spanish Grand Prix. The fifth place certainly delivered a rather subdued Monegasque driver to the interviews, although it is worth noting the gap of just 6 thousandths from teammate Lewis Hamilton, considering the difference in Ferrari engine specification between the two.

“Maximized potential”
In an interview with Sky Italia, Charles Leclerc explained: “The feelings were quite good, we definitely paid a bit for the power unit, but this has nothing to do with the team. Looking at today, I think I have more or less maximized everything. Surely there was still a bit of performance here and there, because the difference from pole is just one and a half tenths.
Fifth is what it is and we will try to maximize this tomorrow. Regarding tire degradation, I think there will be little doubt, because it will be very high for everyone and it remains to be seen if the track has improved over these days or remains as on Friday and therefore it could be very difficult.”

To the French of Canal+, Leclerc emphasized aiming for a good start: “The lap was quite okay. There were some corners where I didn’t put it all together, as I said on the radio, but I think it’s like that for everyone and I have no regrets. We will try to make a good start, because overtaking will be very complicated.”
Finally, in an interview with F1TV the Ferrari driver reiterated: “Maybe I went beyond the limit in some corners and lost a bit, plus I lose on the straights due to the engine specification, but it was my fault. I think we still did a good job and maximized our potential“.
