‘Diabolical’ Marquez
Marc Marquez won the Misano Sprint and has moved to -14 from Jorge Martin in the Riders’ standings. Above all, he is now +8 on Marco Bezzecchi, so even finishing second behind Bezzecchi tomorrow he would recover ground on Martin while staying ahead of the home favorite.
Marquez on the microphones of Sky basically said indirectly that he won only because Bezzecchi made a tire mistake talking about tomorrow’s GP: “Look at today’s podium, two medium tires and one soft tire, the medium tire was the best. Tomorrow Bezzecchi with the medium will go very fast, but I already scored 12 points today, for 20 tomorrow I’ll sign for it“.
Marc Marquez will indeed be able to make the most of today’s result tomorrow, but surely if he has the opportunity to do a double he will not let it slip away. Today he mounted the medium tire because the data was clear: “Looking at the data it seemed clear that the medium tire was the best also for the Sprint – Marquez explained – even on the bike the soft didn’t give me good feelings, in fact, today with the soft I risked finishing third”.

Regarding Bezzecchi’s comeback halfway through the race Marc Marquez admitted he ‘overdid it’ in taking a breather after a frantic start: “I fell asleep, I didn’t think Bezzecchi would recover immediately. The overtake? It’s fundamental how you release the clutch at the start, usually we start well and today was the same”.
