A photo and its explanation
The photo posted on Instagram by Marc Marquez after the Aragon weekend continues to be a hot topic inside the MotoGP paddock, where you can ‘appreciate’ the condition of his right shoulder after all the accidents he has suffered and the seven surgeries it has undergone. Marc’s brother, Alex, defended #93’s decision to post that image: “I think you misunderstood – said the Gresini team rider speaking to journalists present in Misano – in the end, it can become tiring to have to answer the same question at every Grand Prix. So [Marc] posted the photo to close the matter. With a photo, there can be no speculation – Alex added – I think, for his peace of mind, Marc no longer wants to talk about the subject. You post the photo, close the discussion, and focus on the world championship: that’s what he wants“.
The intent expressed by Alex was then confirmed by Marc himself to the microphones of the official MotoGP channel during the Misano media day: “I posted that photo because I think it’s the best way to stop people talking about my arm – said the reigning world champion – what I have learned in my career is that, when there are question marks, rumors, and speculation, being honest makes everything easier. I knew and know my situation, but this way you have a clear picture and there is also the interview with my doctor – who is the most qualified person to explain what is happening to my body – allowing me to fully focus on trying to fight for this fantastic championship despite the problem“.

Bagnaia disagrees
Speaking with Italian journalists, Francesco Bagnaia, Marc Marquez’s teammate, hinted – as reported by the site Motorsport.com – that he, in #93’s place, would have adopted a different communication strategy: “For me, the relationship with the media is different – Bagnaia declared – I am very different from many other riders. I prefer to keep things private and hide many things. There are many things you don’t know about me. When I raced here in 2023, you didn’t know the condition of my leg. It was completely black. But I raced anyway. If you want to get visibility, you have to do this kind of thing. Marc is very good at this. And those behind him are pushing a lot on this situation. It’s a different approach to social media. But in any case, what he is doing and the way he is facing race weekends is incredible“.
