Max Verstappen at the wheel of a Mercedes at the Nürburgring 24 Hours. Said and done. It had been a year since there was talk of the possibility of the Dutchman racing in the legendary endurance race held every year on the mythical Nordschleife track, and now the announcement has arrived. It is quite striking that the official press release arrived today, just one day after the first Formula 1 GP held under the new technical regulations, which Verstappen has completely slammed.

Top-level Team
The Dutch champion did not hide his enthusiasm for this highly anticipated first time, and Mercedes has provided him with a super-team full of prestigious teammates. Joining Verstappen will be Lucas Auer, Jules Gounon, and Daniel Juncadella, official Mercedes drivers: “The Nürburgring is a special place – declared the orange superstar, who will naturally race with a Red Bull livery – there is no other circuit like this. The Nürburgring 24 Hours has been on my bucket list for a long time, so I am excited to finally be able to compete in it. Last year I obtained the DMSB license for the Nordschleife and was able to participate in NLS9, where we won. This preparation was very valuable because we learned many things that we can use in this year’s program. With Dani, Jules and Lucas we have a strong lineup and we are receiving great support from Red Bull and Mercedes-AMG Motorsport. Now it’s about making the right preparations before the events so we can give our best in the races“.

A training session, or perhaps more
Max is expected to take part, as ‘training’ for the 24 hours, also in NLS2, the second race of the Nürburgring Endurance Series scheduled for March 21. In case of cancellation of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Formula 1 GPs in mid-April, it is not excluded that the Dutchman could also race in other events scheduled on the Nordschleife. Verstappen and the entire crew will drive a Mercedes-AMG GT3 with the #3. The Nürburgring 24 Hours is scheduled for May 16-17. Don’t make any plans, it’s going to be fun.
