The Englishman has the obligation to win
“It’s two against one”. Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur emphasized that Andrea Kimi Antonelli’s penalty puts the Maranello Scuderia in a position to battle against only George Russell on Sunday at the Italian GP in Monza.
With Antonelli forced to start from the back of the grid, Monza becomes, according to Martin Brundle, a sort of last call for George Russell to revive his championship hopes and avoid a fate as Antonelli’s wingman in this season finale.
“This weekend he has a great opportunity to close the gap and prove he fully deserves the world title, his weekend seems to have started well – said Martin Brundle as a commentator for Sky Sport UK – it’s a sort of last call if he wants to avoid becoming Antonelli’s wingman, forced to serve the Italian to defend Kimi’s world championship lead from attacks by Ferrari and McLaren.”
Tomorrow Antonelli could also make himself available to Russell in Qualifying by offering the slipstream to his teammate, we will see how the Monza weekend unfolds.
