The Englishman celebrates in Melbourne
George Russell won the Australian GP in Melbourne. The Mercedes driver had to fight for a long time with Charles Leclerc at the start of the race, but in the end, he didn’t even have to sweat the overtake on track because Mercedes took advantage of a Virtual Safety Car to pit early, halving the time to perform it.

Russell then took first position on track as well, overtaking Lewis Hamilton who was at the end of his stint on medium tires and did not offer much resistance.

The English driver celebrated his success in Australia over the radio like this: “I like this car and I like this engine“. It was meant to be a Mercedes 1-2 and a 1-2 it was, we will see if next weekend in China the W17 will prove to be unbeatable again.
