“I don’t like scoring points like this”, said Fernando Alonso after the Monaco GP where he earned a point simply because Sergio Perez was penalized for being poorly positioned on the starting grid.

At Zandvoort in the Dutch GP, instead, there was a ‘real’ top-10 all thanks to the skill of the two-time world champion who made good use of the growth of the Aston Martin and the Honda power unit.

Alonso made one less pit stop and brought home a valuable ninth place especially for the morale of the team as highlighted via radio by Adrian Newey after the checkered flag. “Congratulations Fernando, it was a fantastic race. It’s a great confidence boost for everyone at Silverstone. Thank you”, Newey’s words.

For his part, Alonso emphasized that now the Aston Martin is an absolutely pleasant car to drive: “Thanks to you guys, ‘lovely car to drive’, and in the future we will do even better”.
