Immediately out Verstappen
The last Dutch GP of Max Verstappen ends very badly, who so far in his career at Zandvoort had achieved three wins and two second places in five appearances. This time, however, the Red Bull phenomenon did not even complete a lap; Verstappen in fact crashed heavily against the wall right at the end of the first lap, losing control of his RB22 exiting the last corner, the parabolic that leads onto the short main straight.

Watching the replays the accident seems like a Verstappen error, who went too far inside on the wet track and failed to control a sudden swerve of the car.

The car crashed against the outer wall and then bounced dangerously inside. Fortunately none of the cars approaching hit Max’s car while it was ‘cutting’ the track. Immediately the race direction waved the red flag.
In the backmarkers, Gabriel Bortoleto was also involved in an error in the same section, but the Brazilian Audi driver was very good (and also lucky): he performed a 360° spin and restarted. Verstappen explained via radio immediately that he was fine and got out of the car on his own, although he understandably appeared in pain and a bit shaken by the impact.
