August 14, 1988, the death of Enzo Ferrari
Sunday August 14, 1988 Enzo Ferrari died in his home in Modena. He left a sheet of paper with his last will in a drawer of the bedside table, written with his characteristic purple ink. The news of his death was therefore given only after the funeral, on August 15 after 8 in the morning. The funeral was held in a strictly private form, in the presence of only relatives and closest friends. Then the burial, in the family chapel of the San Cataldo cemetery, in Modena, next to his son Dino.

To remember Enzo Ferrari 38 years after his passing, we have viewed in the archives of the Quirinale the telegram of condolences sent to the family of the ‘Commendatore’ by the then President of the Republic, Francesco Cossiga. The date is August 16, 1988:
