Gunther of the two worlds
Gunther Steiner has been one of the most well-known faces in Formula 1 thanks to the popularity brought to him by the Netflix series ‘Drive to Survive’ during the period he was team principal of Haas from 2016 to 2023.
In September 2025 the surprise announcement of his arrival in MotoGP with the Tech3 team as CEO.
During his time between the two categories, Steiner had the opportunity to get to know champions like Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen up close, but also Marc Marquez.

Steiner and the similarity between Marquez and Hamilton
In a nice interview by colleagues from Motosprint, Gunther Steiner was asked who he would associate among current and past F1 drivers with the MotoGP champion Marc Marquez.
A not simple question, which amused the South Tyrolean manager: “No one had ever asked me that, I have to think about it for a moment”.
Then Steiner’s answer: “Marquez seems a bit like Lewis Hamilton to me. Because he is also very good at positioning himself well. Going fast when needed, understanding when he shouldn’t. But also for how he manages his image, although he doesn’t manage it like Lewis, because there is no one like him. But I would compare him to Lewis, also because he has won a lot”.
