Cadillac, Perez and Bottas welcome Budkowski: “He will bring a new approach”

F1, Cadillac towards Zandvoort

The second half of the F1 World Championship restarts this weekend from Zandvoort, and Cadillac will present an important novelty. It is the first race for Marcin Budkowski at the head of the pit wall after the unexpected dismissal of Graeme Lowdon due to performances that CEO Dan Towriss deemed insufficient.

The Dutch appointment, at its last presence on the F1 calendar, is a challenging event for Cadillac. The track is narrow and twisty, and the weekend is overshadowed by the weather variant, with rain expected on Friday and Saturday. Therefore, the experience of Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas will be fundamental: here are their words ahead of the Dutch weekend.

Perez’s words

After an intense first half of the season, it is positive that everyone can enjoy some rest in August, but it’s fantastic to be back on track,” commented Checo. “The second half of this season presents a new series of challenges, but hopefully also some great opportunities. I look forward to immediately syncing with Marcin and the rest of the team.”

Bottas’s words

It’s fantastic to be back racing after a refreshing summer break. The Dutch Grand Prix will be an interesting test: the Sprint format requires everyone to give their best from the moment we arrive on track,” added Bottas. “It is also Marcin’s first race with Cadillac and I am sure he will bring a new approach to our way of racing. From a driver’s point of view, it is a challenging circuit, with fast and flowing corners that help establish a good rhythm. The banked corners are also fun: it’s not often you get to tackle them with an F1 car.”

Budkowski, who has chosen a calm approach, for now wants to get to know the work group closely, listen to them and evaluate their operating methods. Among the Polishman’s goals is to achieve the first point in Cadillac’s F1 history, a milestone narrowly missed at the Monte Carlo weekend.
