Max extends
The news of the day in the Zandvoort paddock is obviously the contract renewal of Max Verstappen with Red Bull. The Dutchman has extended his agreement with the Milton Keynes team until the end of 2030, putting an end to an endless series of speculations about his future. For some time – and also in recent seasons – it was speculated that a possible destination for Verstappen, if he left his historic team, would have been Mercedes.

Never uncertain
“The rumors of Max at Mercedes? Well, this only becomes a thought for us when we are in front of you in the press who impose these questions on us and remind us of what is being talked about – said Russell, sparking a bit of controversy with the journalists – from our side it has always been very clear within Mercedes what the reality has been over the past few years. Perhaps these discussions (those of Verstappen’s management with Mercedes, editor’s note) have become more public compared to the discussions his entourage had with McLaren or Ferrari, but they are part of the nature of this sport: drivers talk to various teams, teams talk to various drivers and everyone wants to see what cards the others have in hand. But I have never felt threatened regarding my seat: I have always had a sense of security with Toto and within the team and obviously all this will continue”.
