In the winning weekend in Barcelona, it emerged that it was precisely at Montmelò that Lewis Hamilton suffered a rather serious injury during private tests carried out to start getting familiar with the Ferrari.

The seven-time world champion, questioned on this topic at the Thursday media event on the eve of the Austrian GP, went a bit more into the details of the matter.
“It’s a private matter – Hamilton began – last year during the tests I crashed violently against a wall, I dislocated a cervical disc which also affected the nerve. For about nine weeks I couldn’t train every day, I physically couldn’t manage, I couldn’t sleep, I took painkillers, I had to get injections, I did everything possible to try to solve the problem and it wasn’t easy to live with it having to sit in the cockpit“.
After the first success with Ferrari in Barcelona, the English driver arrived in Austria on the wings of enthusiasm: “It’s fantastic to have a car that finally has the things I asked for. We are moving together and collaborating very well. I love driving this SF-26, now I’m starting to be able to put into practice the things I asked for, and that’s what makes me feel better“.
